CD-review: Angelwings – The Edge Of Innocence

ANGELWINGS, a new band from Gibraltar with their debut-album “The Edge Of Innocence“. Musically we’re moving around in the same neighborhood as Nightwish and Within Temptation and so on. I especially think of the early years of Within Temptation, but maybe a bit more progressive.

Angelwings were born in 2013 with a group of experienced musicians, and became the first symphonic metal band from Gibraltar.

It’s not at all bad, rather quite pleasant to have in the background when I’m working. There are several pretty convincing tracks on the album, and it’s an overall good debut.

Sometimes though, I find it to be somewhat repetitive. It’s not that I think it’s bad, but rather typical to the genre. But the fact is, that I have some trouble listening to the whole album right away. I find my self listen to first half, take a break and then listen to the second half.

The musicians are very capable and Davinia Cano (Divi Cano) has a great voice. You can really hear that it’s a group of experienced musicians. And if you’re into music like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica and After Forever, well then you will like ANGELWINGS!

The album was released June 23rd 2017
