Crannk Reviews Amyl and the Sniffers – self titled album

Amyl and the Sniffers are a 4 piece band from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia who play rock n roll/punk rock. The band has been around for a few years now and have a few releases in their discography including a 4 track EP called “Giddy Up” in 2016, a 6 track EP called “Big Attraction” in 2017, the “Some Mutts  (Can’t Be Muzzled)” & “Cup Of Destiny” single in 2018 and the “Monsoon Rock” single in March this year leading up to the bands self titled debut album released on the 24th of May 2019.

The 11 track album has some diversity to it, songs like “Monsoon Rock” and “Some Mutts  (Can’t Be Muzzled)” have a dirty rock n roll vibe, while songs like “Shake Ya” and “Got You” have a soft/loud pattern to them. I really liked the bass guitar in “Got You” its actually a love or perhaps infatuation song, that feeling right at the start of a relationship.

The album has some great punk tracks like the song “GFY” a hard and fast punk number with great bass guitar parts and lead guitar work.”Cup Of Destiny” has a real 77 punk vibe and “Gacked On Anger” is similar, both are great snotty punk songs.
Control” lyrically is a very powerful and self focused punk rock number. I really liked the bass intro on the track “Punisha” it also has lots of distorted power chords and some great lead guitar noise. This song features my favourite lines from the whole album “you got worse, i got better”
Snotty punk, quality lyrics and attitude. Go check it out
