Illyria to release “The Carpathian Summit” Instrumental Version

Earlier in the year, I did a review for the stunning Sophmore album from Perth’s post-black metal band Illyria “The Carpathian Summit” (Review LINK) an album that I was able to get totally immersed and lost in. So when I heard that Illyria are set to do a total instrumental version of “The Carpathian Summit” the prog-metal part of me was really excited as the album at points had a really progressive sound to it of which I was keen to hear more. “The Second Day Of Spring” is at the fore of the instrumental album and demonstrates delicate and fragile guitar melodies, triumphant breakthroughs and dark interludes.

Vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Ilija Stajić explains the thought process behind the instrumental rendition: “As the old saying goes, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, and we felt that this can also be translated in music. The instrumental versions intention was to allow our listeners to make up their own story rather than feel limited to my lyrics.

Illyria’s instrumental version of ‘The Carpathian Summit’ will be released on Friday October 18 and can be pre-ordered now at iTunes & Apple Music/Spotify/Google Play and all good online stores and streaming outlets. “The Second Day Of Spring – Instrumental” is available now at https://smarturl.it/TCSinstrumental.
