Crannk reviews Oculum Dei and the debut album “Dreams Of Desire and Torment”

Hailing from the deep, dark depraved depths of the bible belt Charlotte,USA are the blackened death trio Oculum Dei. They first formed in 2016 as a studio project and were not content to remain in the studio and started playing live shows developing an elaborate show spewing forth their blackened souls. Oculum Dei are due to unleash their debut album “Dreams Of Desire And Torment” on February 22nd.

Here is what the bassist/drummer Tenebris said about the opening track “Involuntary Pandemic is almost a straight death metal blast to the face with Zebs well place rant on religion, the hypocrisy of the church and asking where are your Gods when bad stuff happens.”

This album is a procession to set forth the hordes of darkness filled with the war chants of Oculum Dei and my blackened heart is ready to join the horde. This band manages to mix in various different elements and influences of black metal. The more you listen to this album the more you hear the depth and talent of this band with tracks like “Ghosts In The Corridor” and “A Cold Winter’s Plight” which has some real shades of Amon Amarth showcasing the different influences of Oculum Dei.

Here is what the band said about the album “The album as a whole is an eclectic mix of slow dark black metal jumping into extreme black riffs sometimes slowed down with a death metal riff and into acoustic guitars. There is no set template for this one, just a groove and feel that each of us has brought to the table.”

Be ready to join the hordes of Oculum Dei on February 22nd 2019 when they announce their war cry “Dreams Of Desire And Torment”
